National Young Mathematician Award

9th November 2016 at Explore Learning in Harrow

Four very talented Mathematicians from Year 6 (Diya Patel from Steel Class, Musawir Nasir from Denim Class, Het Patel from Denim Class and Anushree Bhattacharjee from Azure Class) were chosen to compete against other Primary Schools in Brent and Harrow.
We made our way to Explore Learning in Harrow where we met with some very friendly staff at the centre.

We had a chance to learn more about the work Explore Learning do and we also got a chance to meet the other competitors from the other schools.  The other schools competing against us n the day were Mt Stewart, Longfield and Uxendon Manor.

We were given 55 Minutes to solve three different Maths challenges. The judges judged us on our problem solving skills, team work, our recording for each challenge, how we distributed roles within our group and the methods we used to solve the challenges.

As a team they demonstrated excellent team work and delegation of responsibilities. The judges, who were watching very closely, were particularly impressed with their recordings for each challenge.

Having successfully solved all three challenges within the given time and earning enough points in the judging criteria, the team have made it into the regional finals which will be held on 23rd November 2016.

What wonderful mathematicians they are!
